remembering.

As I've created new work, a central theme I keep coming back to is the idea of "remembering".

When I finally happened upon this, so many things clicked. If you don't know, I write daily reminders for e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. and do most of my best brainstorming in lists. Truly, so much of what I'm always trying to do is remember things - phone, keys, wallet and big, big life truths.

It's easy for me to forget to get milk at the store, to breathe deeply in a stretch, and how marvelous and mysterious it truly is to be alive. But it doesn't take much for me to remember -- songs, sunbeams, scripture, and stars always bring me right back.

These pieces, or "good reminders”, don't come from a place of levity, but weight; the weight of beauty, the weight of existence. To me, they are a reminder to stay awake in a world that would much rather us barely stay conscious. Being a human is hard and messy - especially right now. But, I hope these pieces serve as small tokens that remind you of the good, holy, and beautiful truths that help your heart to stay open.
